Structural repairs, rebuilds and finishes after water, fire, mold and storm damage — by the same team that handled the mitigation
Verus Restoration provides reconstruction and repair services after property damage throughout Metro Atlanta and Northeast Georgia. Once a loss has been mitigated — dried, cleaned, remediated — we rebuild what was removed or destroyed: framing, roofing, drywall, insulation, flooring, cabinetry, trim and paint, with electrical, plumbing and HVAC coordinated through licensed trades. From a single-room repair to a full rebuild, it’s one scope, one schedule and one point of contact from the first call to the final walkthrough.

Here’s the gap most property owners fall into: the mitigation company finishes, pulls its equipment and leaves. Now you’re searching for a contractor who wasn’t there for the demolition, doesn’t know what was removed or why, and has to reconcile their estimate with your adjuster’s. Weeks pass with open walls. We built Verus so that gap doesn’t exist. Call or text (404) 983-0966.
Repairs and Reconstruction After Every Kind of Loss
Whatever the mitigation took out, reconstruction puts back — to the original condition or, where you choose, better.
- Framing and structural repairs — joists, studs, subfloor, load-bearing members
- Roofing and decking after storm, tree and fire damage
- Drywall, insulation and ceilings — the most common put-back after any water loss
- Flooring — hardwood, tile, luxury vinyl, laminate and carpet, matched to what’s there
- Kitchens and baths — cabinets, countertops, fixtures and tile after fires and leaks
- Trim, doors, interior paint and finishes
- Exterior repairs — siding, soffit, fascia, gutters and decks
- Basements, crawl spaces and commercial build-backs, including tenant spaces
Repair, upgrade, or both? Open walls are the cheapest moment you’ll ever have to change something. Insurance generally pays to restore what was there; if you want a different floor, a reworked kitchen or an added outlet, you can pay the difference and we fold it into the same job. Required code upgrades are a separate question — some policies cover them, and we’ll flag them in the scope.
What Happens Between “Dry” and “Rebuilt”
- A written, line-item scope built from the mitigation documentation, so nothing removed is forgotten
- Reconciliation with your adjuster’s estimate before work begins, so you know what’s covered
- Material and finish selections made with you — samples in hand, not from a catalog description
- Permits and inspections arranged where the city or county requires them
- A schedule with trade sequencing and a realistic completion date
- One point of contact who was on the job during mitigation and stays through the punch list
Our Reconstruction Process
-
Scope & estimate
A line-item rebuild scope written in the detail adjusters expect, tied to the photos and removed-materials list from mitigation.
-
Approvals & selections
Insurance approval, any permits, and your choices on flooring, cabinets, fixtures and paint — with the upgrade conversation had up front.
-

Trades sequenced correctly — rough-ins, inspections, drywall, finishes — with daily site management and regular updates to you.
-
Inspections & punch list
Required inspections passed, then a detailed walkthrough with you to catch every detail before we call it finished.
-
Final walkthrough & move back
Contents returned from storage and placed, final sign-off, and the documentation your claim file needs to close.
Every Loss We Mitigate Ends in Reconstruction
Reconstruction is the last step of every service below — and because the same team handles both, it starts the day mitigation ends.
- Water Water Damage Repair Drywall, flooring and cabinetry put back after extraction and verified drying. Water damage repair
- Fire Fire & Smoke Damage Rebuilding burned rooms, roofs and kitchens after cleanup and odor removal. Fire & smoke restoration
- Storm Storm Damage Roofing, decking, siding and interior repairs after wind, hail and fallen trees. Storm damage restoration
- Mold Mold Removal & Remediation Walls, insulation and finishes rebuilt after clearance, with the moisture source corrected. Mold remediation
- Recovery Contents Cleaning & Storage Your belongings return from storage the day the rebuild is signed off. Contents restoration
- Commercial Commercial Damage Restoration Tenant build-backs and commercial reconstruction phased around your operations. Commercial restoration
Reconstruction Is Where Insurance Claims Get Complicated. We Keep It Clear.
Two things surprise most property owners during a rebuild. The first is supplements: once walls are open, hidden damage turns up that the original estimate didn’t include, and the scope has to be revised and resubmitted. The second is depreciation: many policies first pay the depreciated value of what was damaged and release the rest — the recoverable depreciation — only after the work is complete and documented. Neither is a problem; both are a paperwork process that has to be done right.
We write the scope in the detail adjusters expect, document hidden damage as it’s found, submit supplements with photos, and give you the completion documentation that releases the final payment. Before work starts, you’ll know what the claim covers, what any upgrades cost, and what, if anything, is out of pocket.

Reconstruction FAQs
Do I have to use the same company for cleanup and rebuild?
No — you can hire anyone for the reconstruction. The advantage of one team is practical: the people who did the mitigation know what was removed, have the photos and moisture logs, and can start the rebuild the day drying is verified instead of weeks later. It also means one scope and one contact for your adjuster.
How long does reconstruction take?
It depends on scope and on how quickly the claim is approved. A drywall-and-paint repair after a contained water loss is often a matter of days once materials are in; a kitchen rebuild after a fire or a roof replacement after a storm takes weeks; a full rebuild takes longer. We give you a schedule with the scope and keep it current.
Why did my insurance pay less than the estimate?
Usually because of depreciation. Many policies pay the actual cash value first — the cost minus depreciation — and release the recoverable depreciation after the work is finished and documented. Your deductible also comes out of the first payment. We provide the completion documentation that releases the balance.
Can I make upgrades during the rebuild?
Yes. Insurance restores what was there; if you want something different or better, you pay the difference and we build it into the same job. Open walls are the least expensive moment to add an outlet, change a floor or rework a layout.
Do you handle permits and inspections?
Where the city or county requires a permit — structural, electrical, plumbing, roofing — it’s pulled and the inspections are scheduled as part of the job. You won’t be chasing an inspector.
Can I live in the house during reconstruction?
Often, for repairs confined to one area. For larger rebuilds, kitchen or bath work, or anything affecting electrical and plumbing for days at a time, it’s usually easier not to. If your claim includes additional living expenses, we’ll help you plan the timing around them.
Dry, clean and empty isn’t done. Done is your kitchen back. Call or text and let’s get the rebuild on the calendar.
