Water, Fire, Mold & Storm Damage Restoration for Stone Mountain Homes, Subdivisions and Businesses

Stone Mountain is a straight run down US-78 from our Norcross base — the village at the foot of the mountain, and the far larger Stone Mountain mailing area that wraps around it from Smoke Rise to Redan. When a 1960s cast-iron drain backs up under a Hidden Hills ranch, a storm drops a pine on a roof off Rockbridge Road, or the Yellow River rises into a lower level east of the park, one team responds 24 hours a day and stays through cleanup, drying, repairs and full reconstruction.

Stone Mountain is one of the 21 markets in our core service area — the historic village, the 1960s–80s subdivisions in every direction and the apartment communities along Memorial Drive and Rockbridge Road alike. (404) 983-0966, any hour.

Why local knowledge matters

What Puts Stone Mountain Properties at Risk

Fifty-year-old subdivisions on granite and red clay, the Yellow River on the east side and one of the heaviest tree canopies in DeKalb: Stone Mountain’s losses follow its map.

  1. 1960s–80s homes and original plumbing

Hidden Hills, Smoke Rise, Redan and the Rockbridge subdivisions were built in two waves — cast-iron drains and galvanized lines in the first, polybutylene in the second. Both are failing now, usually behind a wall or under a slab. See water damage repair.

  2. Slabs, crawl spaces and granite

Much of Stone Mountain sits on shallow soil over granite. Water that can’t soak in runs to the lowest house on the street, slab homes get slab leaks, and crawl spaces hold moisture all summer — where mold starts. See flooding cleanup and mold remediation.

  3. Apartments and townhomes on Memorial and Rockbridge

Memorial Drive, Rockbridge Road and Hugh Howell carry thousands of 1970s–90s apartment and townhome units. A failed line or water heater upstairs is a loss on every floor below, and kitchen fires move through shared attics. See multifamily restoration and fire & smoke damage.

  4. The canopy, the river and the storms

Stone Mountain’s pines and oaks are at full height, and spring storms and ice drop them on roofs and power lines across the whole mailing area. The Yellow River runs along the east side of the park and floods the low lots after heavy rain. See storm damage and water removal.

A Few Things About Stone Mountain

  • New Gibraltar

The village was chartered as New Gibraltar in 1839 and renamed Stone Mountain in 1847. Rail service arrived in 1845, and Georgia’s first state fair was held here in August 1846.

  • Granite everywhere

Stone Mountain granite went into the Panama Canal locks, the roof of the Fort Knox bullion depository and the east steps of the U.S. Capitol. Quarrying was the village economy for a century.

  • Shermantown

After the Civil War, African American quarry workers built Shermantown beside the village; Bethsaida Baptist Church, organized in 1868, still stands. Dr. King named Stone Mountain in his “I Have a Dream” speech in 1963.

  • The Freedom Bell

The village’s Freedom Bell was dedicated on February 26, 2000 by Charles Burris, Stone Mountain’s first African American mayor, in answer to King’s speech.

  • ART Station

The 1913 trolley car barn on Main Street is now ART Station, the village’s arts center. The PATH trail runs through the village into the park, and golf carts are street-legal with a city permit.

  • On screen

Stranger Things, Footloose (2011) and Need for Speed all filmed in the village. Donald Glover and artist Kara Walker both grew up in Stone Mountain.

Questions

Stone Mountain Restoration FAQs

Do you serve Stone Mountain addresses outside the village?

Yes — all three residential ZIPs (30083, 30087, 30088), from Smoke Rise to Redan and from Memorial Drive to the Gwinnett line. Most Stone Mountain addresses are in unincorporated DeKalb, and every one of them is in our core service area, 24 hours a day.

How quickly can Verus get to Stone Mountain?

Stone Mountain is a straight run down US-78 from I-285, or out Lilburn-Stone Mountain Road, from our Norcross base. We’re open around the clock; call or text (404) 983-0966 and we’ll give you an honest arrival window and tell you what to do in the meantime. Typical drive time from our Norcross headquarters is about 20–30 minutes in light traffic and 35–50 in rush hour.

A tree came through the roof. What happens first?

Get everyone out of the rooms under the damage and call us. We tarp and board the opening to stop the rain, remove water and wet materials, dry the structure, document everything for your claim, and handle the repairs and rebuild. If the tree is still on the house we coordinate the removal with the crane or tree service before the roof work starts.

The sewer backed up into my 1970s house. What do I do?

Keep people and pets out of it — sewer water carries bacteria, and anything porous it touches has to come out. Don’t run water in the house until the line is cleared. Photograph what you can from a distance and call us; we extract, remove the contaminated materials, disinfect, dry and rebuild, and document it for your claim. Many policies need a sewer-backup endorsement, so check yours.

I manage an apartment community on Memorial Drive. Can you handle a multi-unit water loss?

Yes. We dry and restore each affected unit, document every unit separately for the property’s claim and the residents’ renter’s policies, coordinate access and communication with your office, and handle the repairs so residents can get back in. One point of contact for the whole loss.

What should I do first if I find water or fire damage in Stone Mountain?

Make sure everyone is safe, stop the source if you can do so safely (shut off the main water valve; after a fire, don’t touch soot or run the HVAC), photograph the damage, and call (404) 983-0966. We’re on the way.

Stone Mountain is a straight shot down the freeway from our front door. When something goes wrong at your property, you shouldn’t have to explain which side of the mountain you’re on to the people fixing it.
