Emergency Planning for Homes & Businesses in Metro Atlanta

A written water, fire, mold and storm damage plan for your property, built with Verus before you ever need to call — shut‑offs, priorities, contacts and a team that already knows your home.

The Best Time to Meet Your Restoration Company Is Before Anything Goes Wrong

A written water, fire, mold and storm plan for your home or business — built with Verus before the day you need it

Verus Restoration offers emergency planning — what the industry calls pre-loss planning — for homeowners, property managers and businesses throughout Metro Atlanta and Northeast Georgia. We walk your property with you and build a Verus Ready Plan: where the shut-offs are, who to call, what to protect first, and exactly what to do in the first ten minutes of a burst pipe, a kitchen fire, a storm leak or a mold discovery. When damage happens, the first hour is spent working, not orienting.

Metro Atlanta has a loss calendar: hard freezes that burst pipes in winter, severe thunderstorms and tornado watches in spring and fall, tropical remnants that drop days of rain, and a summer so humid that any leak becomes a mold question within days. Most of the damage from those events happens in the first hours — while someone is hunting for a shut-off valve or deciding who to call. Most restoration companies only offer planning to businesses. We think a family’s home deserves the same. Call or text (404) 983-0966 to schedule a Ready Plan visit.

What’s in it

What Goes Into Your Verus Ready Plan

A Ready Plan is short, specific and built for a bad day. Everything in it is something you’d otherwise be trying to find or remember while water is running down a wall.

  • Shut-off locations for water, gas and electrical — photographed and labeled so anyone in the household can find them
  • Priority areas and items — documents, electronics, medications, valuables and the irreplaceables
  • Decision-makers and contacts — who can authorize work, who to reach after hours, who lives or works on site
  • Insurance details — carrier, agent, and where the policy lives, so the claim starts the same day
  • Your trade contacts — plumber, electrician, HVAC, roofer — and the ones we coordinate with
  • Property notes — water heater age, sump pump, roof type, basement and crawl-space access, known trouble spots
  • First-ten-minutes steps for each type of damage, written for your property, not a generic brochure
  • Verus on file — your plan is in our system, so the first call is already informed
Four scenarios, one plan

A Specific Plan for Each Kind of Damage

  • Water

Burst pipes, failed water heaters, appliance lines, sump pump loss. Where to shut it off, what to move, what not to touch, when to call.

  • Fire & smoke

After everyone is safe: who to call first, how to secure the property, what not to clean, and how contents and smoke odor are handled.

  • Mold

Where moisture tends to hide in your property, early warning signs to watch for, and what to do the day you find growth.

  • Storm

Roof damage, fallen trees, wind-driven rain, power loss. Tarping and board-up priorities, documentation steps, and a weather-season checklist.

How it works

How a Verus Ready Plan Comes Together

  1. Schedule a visit

Call or text and we’ll set a time that works — evenings and weekends included for homeowners.

  2. Walk the property together

We locate and photograph shut-offs, note the risks specific to your property, and talk through your priorities and who needs to be in the plan.

  3. Receive your Ready Plan

A written plan you can keep on the fridge, in a drawer and on your phone — and a copy on file with Verus.

  4. Keep it current

New water heater, a renovation, new tenants, a new address: tell us and we update the plan. We’ll also check in before storm season.

Who this is for

Homes First — and Every Property You’re Responsible For

Homeowners. Your own home, a rental you own, a second home that sits empty for weeks, or a parent’s house across town. If you’ve ever wondered whether anyone in the household could find the main water shut-off in the dark, a Ready Plan is for you.

Property managers, HOAs and businesses. Multi-property plans with per-building shut-offs, access instructions, tenant and resident communication steps, and the decision chain for authorizing work at 2 a.m. For businesses, the plan is built around continuity: what has to stay open, what can be phased, and who needs to know. Pair it with our commercial damage restoration service and the response is already mapped before the loss.

Why Verus

Why Plan With Verus Restoration

  • You’re already on file

When you call, we know the property, the shut-offs and your priorities. The crew leaves with a plan, not a set of questions.

  • Plans for homes, not just businesses

Most restoration planning programs are commercial-only. We built ours for families first.

  • Honest about the risks we see

If your water heater is on borrowed time or your downspouts dump at the foundation, we’ll tell you — prevention beats restoration.

  • One team when it happens

The people who wrote the plan are the people who show up, 24 hours a day, and stay through reconstruction.

Questions

Emergency Planning FAQs

What is emergency planning, or pre-loss planning, for a property?

It’s a short, property-specific plan made before any damage happens: where the shut-offs are, who to call, what to protect first, what to do in the first minutes of water, fire, mold or storm damage, and who is authorized to approve work. Restoration companies have offered this to commercial clients for years; Verus offers it to homeowners as well.

Is a Ready Plan only for businesses?

No. We build them for homeowners, rental owners, HOAs, property managers and businesses. A home has fewer moving parts than an office building, but the first ten minutes of a burst pipe matter just as much.

What does a Ready Plan visit cost?

For most homes and small businesses, the Ready Plan visit is complimentary — ask when you call. Larger or multi-property plans are scoped individually.

How long does the walkthrough take?

For a typical home, under an hour. Commercial properties and portfolios take longer depending on size and the number of buildings. You’ll have the written plan shortly after the visit.

Does having a plan obligate me to use Verus if something happens?

No. The plan is yours, and it’s useful whoever you call. We’d like to be the call, and having your property on file means we can respond faster than anyone starting from scratch — but there’s no contract or obligation attached.

What should I do today, even before a plan?

Find your main water shut-off and make sure everyone in the household can operate it. Take a photo of every room for insurance. Know where your policy is and who your agent is. And save (404) 983-0966 in your phone as “Verus — Restoration” so you aren’t searching at 2 a.m.

You can’t schedule a burst pipe. You can schedule the plan. Call or text and we’ll set up your Ready Plan visit.
